Google Adds LOCAL link on Home Page

I’ve mentioned a number of times how important it is for any business
with a local focus to be listed in local.google.com and
local.yahoo.com  www.citysearch.com and www.superpages.com.
In case you haven’t noticed, last year Google started giving showing
search results that come from trusted directory sources for the top 10
listings on a lot of keyword phrases.  I looked up ‘austin
physical therapy’ for  client and the top 4-5 listings all came
from a directory versus a private business website.  So be on the
alert, it’s important you are listed in directories especially local
ones if you have ANY kind of local business.

You can get a free listing at SuperPages

and that will get you into local.google.com. However, there are
advantages to paying for the additional SuperPages services so be sure
to look at those, But don’t get carried away if the salesperson calls.
You can get talked into more then you’ll need. Add things that like
incrementally and see how they actually work for you.

Craigslist

is another one you might want to consider.
