Google Does Weather

Get current conditions and a forecast by typing [weather Austin] into your favorite browser, or whatever your U.S. location is (zipcodes are also fair game) [weather 78737].

If you prefer, use Google SMS to send a text message to the U.S. five-digit shortcode 46645 (GOOGL on most mobile phones) followed by your meteorological query.

I just got a new cell phone recently – a Blackberry 7100g.  I feel like a bit of a Johnny-come-lately with regards to using SMS. If you feel the same way, not to worry: Google has a ton of goodies at your fingertips.

Google SMS (Short Message Service) enables you to send queries as text messages over your mobile phone or device and easily get precise answers to your questions. No links. No web pages. Just text — and the information you’re looking for:

More help on how to use Google SMS with those funny little codes is available at http://www.google.com/sms/. Or you can get Google SMS Help information sent directly to your phone by sending the word ‘help’ as a text message to 46645.

Amazing …

Tom
