I Digg It: User-submitted and User-reviewed Technology News Site

It’s like a combination of news.google.com and Slashdot.  Users submit articles to
Digg.com and users decide what articles
are important. Hardly seems like it would work, but it does.

I’m a Slashdot lurker. I don’t care much for the way the site looks
and I am unwilling to pay to remove the ads. I like the Google News site but
I get tired of it for some reason. Seems overwhelming. What’s important to
read? What’s not? There is no indication since it’s all
computer-selected.

I heard about www.digg.com from a recent WebTalkRadio.com podcast which I
listen to without fail every week.  So I visited Digg then bookmarked
it and started catching myself checking back with it during the day.
The look and feel of Digg work’s for me. It’s clean and uncluttered.

It’s interesting to see how popular the articles are.

So eactly what is Digg?

Here is their summary …

Digg is a technology news website that combines social
bookmarking, blogging, RSS, and non-hierarchical editorial control.
With digg, users submit stories for review, but rather than allow an
editor to decide which stories go on the homepage, the users
do.

I’m curious to learn more how you promote stories yourself. How might this
be used to increase a person’s search engine visibility? What’s of interest
to the readers? What’s not?
