During a Sunday afternoon search for new and interesting Podcasts, I heard about Spacemusic from a Podcast411.com show. I really like this kind of music for relaxing, background music as well as “beds” for certain types of audio interviews. It’s not that I had a bunch of time to dedicate to the task of finding Podcasts; I just had a lot of yard work to do and I am more energized if I have something to listen to while I work. Putting up the new mailbox seemed to go a lot faster.
Podcast411.com is a good place to check on up-and-coming Podcasters. The home page is a little overdone with banners, but no matter. The show is clearly created with a lot of heart and spunk, and in one afternoon of listening to archived Podcasts from Podcast411 I was able to quickly decide which ones would be worth my while to download on a regular basis.
Another Podcast that I found recently through my friend Larry Seyer is by Wichita Rutherford from the 5 Minutes with Wichita Podcast. That little 5-minute show (he interviews bluegrass musicians) is so funny I find myself chuckling repeatedly. I like that feeling of lightness it brings up in me. He has a knack for being serious and funny all at the same time. A rare find.
Gotta say, listening to radio is quickly become a relic of the past for me. I listen to NPR only at very select times now, and only on the hour to catch the top news, then it’s back to my iPod shows.
