Larry Seyer, 9-time Grammy Award-winning producer, engineer and musician told me what he thinks about the current music scene, what’s happening in radio and why his new Podcast will make a difference.

From Larry Seyer – www.Electriclarryland.com:
People will always want good music… But they don’t have the time to search through the millions of songs that are available to find the ones they are interested in. And without relying on someone or something to ‘tell’ them what to buy (or try out), they have been relying on the old standards. Which is one of the reasons why, IMHO, that the oldies stations have been so popular. People want good music, but they don’t want to look for it.
To further add to this problem, most of the new music that has been released within the last few years has been targeted toward a young, inexperienced audience. There is no maturity in that market, which is why most of the music being released today and even the last few years lacks any maturity.
The ‘experienced’ and ‘educated’ music lovers’ tunes have been ‘weeded’ out by the narrow bottleneck of labels and radio stations that control what people listen to.
Podcasting will allow music to be fun again for those who love more than simple lyrics and a drum beat. Music is so much more than what is being represented via new releases and on the radio today.
My show will be one of the many that not only provide a quality music venue for the providers, but also give an inside look into the making of the music and the production techniques used. I’ll also feature interviews.
There are tons of music available for free on the internet, but there’s a lot more crap than gold. So my show will be one of the many ‘music filters’ that grows out of Podcasting. I intend for my show to be interesting, educational and entertaining.
