My favorite quote from Eric was related to the definition of video blogging from the panel session he was just leaving: “The definition is still fluid.” Eric made a point that that is exactly what the definition should be still for audio blogging – and I couldn’t agree more. During the panel on The Future of Podcasting, we got lots of questions wanting us to nail down and define audio podcasting. I think I’ll be using this ‘fluid” idea from whenever I’m explaining what Podcasting is. I want people to think of the box as this new way of producing and distributing audio content outside the mass media channels (or video content). The old rules don’t apply anymore to production styles or the traditional gatekeeping of shows and ideas. If you have something YOU want to create, create it and find an audience yourself. With this much freedom to produce, the actual definition of audio and video blogging clearly is fluid in form.
