Paris Hilton Podcasting?
Okay, so I got this from another site, but geesh, I just had to bring this over and tell you. It's true: Paris Hilton will be podcasting to help promote her upcoming movie, "House of Wax."
That said, I'm not sure how interesting it's going to be listening to her talk about shopping and so forth during the course of her 'normal' day, whatever that might be like. But hey, it's novel, and if it helps sell the movie, then you should keep your eye on this approach to marketing. BECAUSE her target market doesn't listen to radio or watch TV like we older folks do. In fact, they don't even read the newspaper much. Instead, they listen to their IPODs. So how do you reach in and influence these echo boomers to buy things and go to movies?
What IS intriguing, though, is that a special piece of software is being written to pull down Paris' RSS feed onto your portable media. It's like Ipodder.net, only it's custom-coded with one feed (hers, I presume). My guess is that the purpose of this dedicated software is to help sell the movie and related 'stuff.' It's all a big test to see if this kind of target marketing will work. Visit the House of Wax site to get the download on April 29. The PODCAST link is there now, but as of this writing it wasn't fully working.
I'll stick with www.bloglines.com for now.
Along the same lines, I read that Warner Brothers is planning on Podcasting about the "SuperMan Returns" movie now being filmed in Australia. This sounds pretty interesting. There is more on this (and the Paris Hilton news) at the Podcasting News site.
I recommend you get the Podcasting News RSS feed if you want to keep track of the business of Podcasting.
